Cancelling hosting
Cancelling is not the same as erasing. You agree a date on which service ends, your data stays recoverable for the retention you already accepted, and deleting anything is a separate, reviewed decision.
You will find Cancelling hosting under Hosting → Settings.
Read the review first
The review is the whole point of this screen. Before anything is requested, it states:
- the applications and services that stop serving;
- the databases and files affected;
- the service-end date you choose;
- the date your data stops being recoverable;
- the route to get your data out.
Nothing is deleted by asking. The reviewed scope is stamped, so what you confirm is exactly what was shown to you.
Request cancellation
- Open Settings → Cancelling hosting.
- Read the review.
- Give a reason.
- Choose a service-end date inside the window the form offers.
- Confirm that you have reviewed the scope, and submit.
The request can be withdrawn until deletion starts. Withdrawing restores the desired service state; access returns after the change is applied.
What happens on the date
On the agreed service-end date:
- the applications stop serving — their running copies go to zero and their routes are withdrawn;
- the data, the database identities and both backup tracks are kept for the retention agreement in force.
Nothing is deleted at service end. The environment can still be restored from its backups until the recoverable-until date the review showed.
Deletion
Final deletion is a separate, reviewed step on our side, against an exact inventory of what remains. It requires the export question to be answered first, and it cannot be spent on a scope nobody reviewed: the approval is bound to the inventory that was reviewed, so a change invalidates it.
Before deletion:
- every application, its addresses, its databases and its storage claims are listed;
- the domain names involved are released only once nothing answers for them, so a name can never be handed to somebody else while it still serves your site.
Once deletion finishes, the data is gone. It cannot be recovered by extending retention, and it cannot be undone by support.
Getting your data out
There is no self-service export. A copy of your files or a database dump is arranged by email, on the same path as any other restore — see Backups and restores. Ask before the recoverable-until date, because after it the restore points no longer exist.
