Logs

Logs shows the log output of an application in the selected environment, so you can see what it is doing without a shell.

Reading a log

  1. Open Hosting → Logs.
  2. Choose the tab for the application or access container whose output you want.
  3. Read its recent lines in output order, with the newest at the bottom.
  4. Choose Refresh to fetch the latest output.

Log output is a tail, not an archive. It covers a recent window and is replaced as the application runs, so copy anything you need to keep. These container logs are not part of the application-file and database backups. Contact Support about older output; recovery is not guaranteed.

When a log is empty

An empty view usually means the application has not written anything recently, or it has restarted since it last wrote. An application that is not serving often says nothing in its own log — start with the environment's state on Overview and the failure message reported there.

Using logs with us

When you ask for help, include:

  • the environment, and the application;
  • roughly when the problem happened;
  • a copy of the log lines from that window, or the message the page reported.

The environment's own identifier is shown on Overview → Troubleshooting; including it saves a round trip.
